Yoga Class Descriptions
Flow: A 60 minute yoga class follows a Vinyasa style of yoga with a flow sequence that introduces foundational postures, emphasizes key alignment and energizes the body. A sequenced flow will be interwoven with various asanas that will help to enhance flexibility and calm the mind. This well balanced class will strengthen, stretch and rejuvenate your body in a pace that suits your needs. This class is suitable for all levels.
Vinaysa POWER Flow: This strong 75 minute powerful flow class energizes, rejuvenates and provides you with a vigorous approach to finding a connection from within by connecting breath to movement. A series of asana flows coupled with sun salutations leaves you refreshed and transformed. During this energetic class you will breathe, balance, strengthen, twist, invert, stretch and go deep within your core. Although there is a strong powerful flow section, the class begins and ends with deep stretches, providing a whole body breath yoga experience. This class is suitable for those familiar with the Vinyasa Flow class and are keen for more.
Flow & Go (with core): This 60 minute early morning class awakens the body & mind with movement, soft opening stretches followed by some fun flow for to energize. The sequence is carefully planned with kindness towards your joints and muscles. It is a wonderful way to start off your morning by feeding your body bright and early before you demand on it for the rest of the day. Attention to core is key towards the end of class. All level class.
Happy Hips Deep Release: This 60 minute class is designed specifically with your hips in mind. Following a Hatha/Vinyasa style class, the postures are designed to open, align and relax your hips. Runners, athletes or people who stay in one position for long periods of time will especially benefit from this sequencing. A combination of YIN and Yan postures will be used to move, stretch and relax those tight areas, benefiting not only your hips but your back as well. The class is designed to move and stretch the hips in all 6 directions that they naturally move/stretch using a series of asanas stretches, breath and movement will be used to relieve and rejuvenate the hips. This is an all levels class.
Gentle Hatha 50+: A 60 minute yoga class designed for those who are either newer to yoga, have injuries/aches, or want a slow, thoughtful pace that allows a deep connection with one’s body and inner self through a sequence of gentle movements. This class is mindful of the 50 years plus of experience the body has with repeated overuse of certain areas in the body and the aches and pains that come with that. Therefore, it introduces foundational postures with the aid of bolsters, straps, and blocks as props to ensure stability and proper alignment. It will move, stretch and relax those tight areas, benefiting not only your hips but your back as well. It is a well-balanced class that will rejuvenate your body at a pace that suits your needs. This class is suitable for all levels.
Restorative: This 60 minute class is designed specifically for you to slow down and refresh after a busy day. The focus of the class is around BEING instead of doing. This restorative class will use props to support the body in positions of ease and comfort to facilitate relaxation and health. Most postures will be on the mats, using the floor as another supportive tool. Each asana (pose) will be held for about 5 minutes (with little use of your muscles as the props will be positioned in a way for your body to totally relax). This will allow your body to release tension and with the help of gently guided breathing, you will be able to manipulate your nervous system in such a way that it will calm and soften.
Yin/Yan Restorative: This 60 minute peaceful quiet class uses long passive holds for deep stretches that go into your connective tissues (joints, bones, cartilage, ligaments, tendons) to help improve your overall mobility and range of motion. Using your breath and various props to find the correct alignment coupled with a gentle encouragement to relax your body, the force of gravity will be used to assist you with your stretch. This practice of advanced awareness calms the nervous system and your mind while supporting and preserving joint bone and connective tissue health. Although this class is mostly YIN based, there will be a few Yan postures used at times to compliment the overall practice. This class is suitable for all levels.
Deep Release (with tune up balls): A class designed for those who had an extremely active week (athletes or physically demanding jobs) or extremely tight from from being in a stationary position for long periods of times. For every yoga posture used, there will be a follow up complimentary “rolling technique” to get deep into the fascia and release tension. You will “move then roll” your body towards a beautiful deep release. Each week will be a different area of focus. Suitable for all levels.
Dusty Mat Yoga (For Beginners or New to Yoga): Nervous to try yoga or only dabbled a bit on your mat? This class is geared specifically for those new to yoga or those who are interested in being re-introduced to yoga. This class incorporates simple sequences to warm up the body, as well as slower paced movements focusing on balance, alignment and flexibility. Cueing and instruction will be given as if you have never been introduced to a posture before and then we build each week. It is a small group setting so lots of time for questions. This class is appropriate for anyone of any age, shape or size.
Athlete’s Stretch: This class is specially designed for those that “push, pull and demand” from their body through continuous movement. This calm practice strives to pull back and soften, providing a gentle stretch into the hip joint, shoulder joint and low back area along with other pesky problems common in athletes or those that continuous demand from their bodies through work or play. Feed your bodies in a different way and put aside the time to slowly trickle out built up tension deep in the myofascia in key trigger spots common to all.
Unwind, Stretch and Restore:This 60 minute calming class is designed specifically for you to slow down and refresh after a busy day. The first 35 min of the class focuses on soft movements coupled with stretches to release any tensions from the day. The class then shifts focus to BEING instead of doing for the last 25 minutes. You will use props to support the body in positions of ease and comfort to facilitate relaxation allowing you to be open to RECEIVE. This class will unwind your mind and body and prepare you for a restful sleep. Dress as you wish, in warm jogging pants and other comfy layered clothes. All levels.
Meditate and Restore: This class uses relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, visualization, progressive muscle relaxation and restorative postures to unwind your mind and let go of anything no longer serving you. Class begins with a breath focus & meditation and then shifts to restorative postures. These gentle floor-based asanas will use bolsters, blankets, and props that support your body so you can fully relax the muscles, slow down the mental activity of the brain, shift emotional patterns, bring ease to the breath, and tune into your nervous system’s healing capacity.
Yoga Strong: This class uses yoga asanas, coupled with light weights (2lb &3lb) to strengthen your body and improve muslce endurance. Mindfully building strength through familiar yoga poses, you are guided through a practice sequenced carefully to create lightness in your mind and promotes energy to flow freely through your body. The class will leave you feeling stronger, bolder and free to tackle your day. This is an all levels class.
